Holeshot Drag Racing Association

CT Dragwayfest

This is going to be a fantastic show! Connecticut Dragway was a great track, and there is no shortage of people that miss it. To this day, many people reminisce over their days of competing there.

While we can't bring the track back, we can bring all the racers back together for a fun day of friendly competition. While the theme is "Connecticut Dragway", we definately welcome racers and clubs that were involved with Dover, Orange, and Charlestown Dragways as well.

This show will be held at Thompson Speedway. This facility and the family that runs it are all class acts. The May
11th (Note: now rescheduled for Friday night July 12th) event will feature:
- 300 Foot Flag Start Nostalgia Drags. All heads up racing, no time slips, no handicaps. We're all out here for fun. While most nostalgia events have a 1974 cutoff date for cars (motorcycles too), we're putting in a little twist by bumping it up to 1985, the last year CT Dragway ran.
- Nostalgia Car Show. Open to any car or motorcycle, again, 1985 and earlier.

Steve Magnante & Larry Eiden to handle announcing duties
Steve Magnante (left) from the SPEED Channel will be handling the primary announcing duties for the first annual CT Dragwayfest. Steve is probably best know for his announcing duties at the Barrett Jackson Auction.

Larry Eiden will also be joining Steve in the announcers booth. Larry spent time as a backup announcer at the CT Dragway, and has a wealth of knowledge of the local racers of back then.

RESCHEDULED!

Due to the impending rain in the weather forecast, we felt the smart move was to reschedule the show for a later date. It proved to be the correct decision. We had too many people coming from a long distance, and we didn't want them to waste time or gas, only to have us cancel on race day.

Also, we saw a nightmare in rain checks, or calling the show early. There was no good to be had by trying to get the May 11th date in.

The new date is Friday afternoon and evening July 12th. We're getting a tremendous response to this change, with most people feeling the Friday night is most likely going to be even better!

While the bulk of the show will be starting at 4:30pm, there will be a large number of people that will making a complete day of it. Therefore we are starting sign-in at 12 noon, and an Early Bird Drag Practice Session starting at 2pm. Car show participants can come at any time as well as spectators to watch the first drag practice.
